Walnut Trees
These walnut trees will all offer nutritous nuts, shade and high value lumber. We have multiple species, ages, and sizes to offer this year. All of these trees are grown from seed so expect some variability in nut quality.
Black walnuts are renowned for their valuable, dark heartwood, prized in fine woodworking and cabinetry. We have trees up to over six feet tall and perfectly straight—ideal as the foundation for a long-term investment in high-quality timber. We have some that are perfectly healthy trees but with some branching that can be discounted if you are mostly interested in having landscape trees, nuts or firewood.
Heartnuts are probably one of the fastest growing nut trees for our area. They produce small, but very delicately flavoured nuts.
English walnuts, in my opinion are one of the best tasting nuts we can grow here.
We also have a small number of “Buartnuts”. These are nuts collected from a hybrid of Butternut, a native tree of eastern North America and a Heartnut. These were collected in an orchard with many adjacent Heartnut trees so I expect these trees will lean more towards characteristics of Heartnut than Butternut. These trees are a bit of a novelty, you could end up with truly unique nuts!
